Part of a Day at
Home

After waking up I bask for
awhile under my 250 watt heat lamp. You can see my ZooMed UV light in
the background. We iguanas need UV light during the hours we are
awake, after our 12 hours of sleep. To wake up we need a basking spot
of around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. (I also have a heater in my
bathroom which keeps the temperature around 85 degrees Fahrenheit
during the day and 75 degrees at night. This keeps me comfortable and
healthy.)
My
cage at my caretaker's home is a converted shower. A frame of plastic
wood was inserted in the shower with coated wire for climbing. I have
two levels of shelves and two large water containers which help keep
the humidity in my cage up. In the rain forest the air would be
dripping with water all day, but this is not practical in a
house.
